Creative industries

The creative industries support, preserve (looks after) and display creative and cultural items. This industry also includes the performing arts, such as dancing, acting and music. Examples of occupations in this industry include interior designer, fashion designer, visual artist, jeweller, film director, sculptor, florist, art gallery curator, advertising creative, copywriter, author, content writer, graphic designer, potter, furniture maker, museum and gallery officer, musician and dancer. Some skills for this industry, like playing an instrument or making jewellery can also be self-taught.

For some occupations in this industry, you can start a vocational qualification in Years 11 or 12. Other occupations will require tertiary study after you finish high school.
