The electrical and electronics industry involves the installation, servicing, repair and maintenance of electrical and electronic equipment used in industries such as construction, mining, information and communications technology (ICT) and utilities (power facilities).

Examples of occupations in this industry include electrician, electronics repair, electrical distribution trades worker, power linesperson, maintenance and repair worker, electrical and electronic engineer, electrical and electronic engineer draftsperson, electronic instrument trades worker.

As the work can be hazardous and technical, training is required to access career pathways in this industry. For some occupations in this industry, you can start a vocational qualification in Years 11 or 12. Other occupations will require tertiary study after you finish high school.
