Healthcare also includes researching and creating vaccines and medicines. Examples of occupations in this industry include enrolled and registered nurse, orderly, surgeon, pharmacist, medical receptionist, dental assistant, midwife, optical dispenser, psychologist, dental hygienist, medical or dental assistants, health information technologists, health care administrators, medical coders, pharmacy technicians, phlebotomists, anaesthetic technician and community health workers.

For some occupations in this industry, you can start a vocational qualification in Years 11 or 12. Other occupations will require tertiary study after you finish high school.

The beauty and personal services industry provides services that improve the appearance and wellbeing of clients. Examples of occupations in this industry, hair dresser, massage therapist, cosmetic tattooist, nail technician, beauty therapist, makeup artist and salon manager.

The personal services industry also includes funeral and mortuary services. Examples of occupations in this sector include working as an embalmer, who prepare the bodies of deceased people for burial, and funeral director, who coordinate funeral arrangements.
