The community services and social assistance industry involves helping others to live fulfilling and meaningful lives, including providing counselling, delivering education programs, helping people with disabilities perform day to day activities and even helping people to find housing.
Examples of occupations in this industry include welfare worker, social worker, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander education pfficer, childcare worker, occupational therapist, drama, music or arts therapist, age and disability support officer, therapy assistant, youth worker, social worker, housing officer, advocate or advisor, nurse, psychologist, parole officer and career counsellor.
For some occupations in this industry, you can start a vocational qualification in Years 11 or 12. Other occupations will require tertiary study after you finish high school.
